Robert D. Sikula

Robert D. “Bob” Sikula of Punta Gorda passed away November 9, 2006. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Edward and Sarah (Balogh) Sikula. Bob attended West High and worked part-time at Fairchild Engineering as a junior draftsman. He graduated from Oakland College in Michigan for Electrical Engineering. Bob joined the US Navy at age of 17 and served on the USS Monterey during WWII in the Pacific. He continued his education in the electrical field and held a master electrical contractors license in 18 states for his company Hatfield Electric and Construction and Engineering Company. Bob held various positions, supervisor, project manager and VIP Manager of Construction Services from Electrical Managements, Inc. a division of Hatfield Electric Company Corporate Office which he retired from. In 1986 he become a realtor and was an accomplished member of the Million Dollar Club, Board of Directors, Grievance Committee, Associate Realtor of the Year, Chairman of Professional Standards, Punta Gorda Planning and Zone Board and was a Commissioner on the Housing Authority Board. Bob was an active member of the US Coast Guard Flotilla 98 and held positions of Information Systems Officer, Instructor of Boat Safety Classes and Patrols on the waterways. He was a volunteer of the Marine Patrol for the Punta Gorda Police Department and was awarded VIP of the year with them. Bob was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shriners, Grotto and Knight Templer and Punta Gorda Elks. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years Ann, children Randy Ann (Peter) Bechtel, Robert (Kathy) Sikula, Jr; brothers George (Esther) Sikula and William (Mary) Sikula; grandchildren Suzanne Hamilton, Jacqueline Hamilton, Clark (Sonia) Bechtel and Ted (Michelle) Bechtel; five great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles and Edward and sister Marjorie Wright. A service in celebration of Bob’s life will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 20 at First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda.
