It is a godsend that a facility like this exists and how comforting it was to our mother and family." Kern E. Winfield, 78, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away after a long illness on May 30, 2009. Born to Dorcas and Donald McKay in Birmingham, Michigan. She was a member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church and Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. Kern will be greatly missed by her sons, Bruce (Jody) Winfield of Lake Barrington, Illinois, Robert (Teri) Winfield of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Don (Anne) Winfield of Deep Creek, Florida ; brother, Jim (Maureen) McKay of Carefree, Arizona; sister Sally (Don) Kutil of Waterford, Michigan and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur H. Winfield. A celebration service of Kern's life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Philanthropy Department TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
