Donald J Botts

Donald J. Botts, 85, of Port Charlotte passed away July 12, 2013. He was the son of John and Susan (Knoll) Botts, born May 27, 1928 in Grand Rapids, MI. While still in high school, Don bought and ran his own gas station, and went on to own and operate several other businesses. He was an accomplished trumpeter, playing in a quartet and traveling with Billy Graham. He was very involved in his church as a song leader and choir director, Sunday School director, and deacon. He shared 66 years with his beloved wife, Ruth, becoming her full-time caregiver in recent years. He will be remembered as a man of God, faithful to his wife, children, and church, always busy with a project. Don will be greatly missed by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Sally (Russ) Acker, Lois Armour, Sue (Pete) Elgersma; son, Dan (Michele) Botts; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service was held on July 13. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, 1144 Veronica St, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
